How to layer our skincare products

Layering skincare works best when you go from the lightest liquid to the thickest cream. This guide explains how to arrange our cleansers, serums, creams, and sun sticks for morning and evening routines, plus how to introduce one new jar at a time.

The basic rule from thin to thick

Start with a clean face and apply your products in order of texture. Watery serums go on first, followed by thicker ampoules, lotions, and heavy creams. If you apply a dense balm before a light serum, the serum cannot reach your skin.

After washing with our enzyme powder wash, apply a product like our hyaluronic acid 100% serum or the witch piggy hell pore control serum. Once that layer settles, follow with a face cream such as the green piggy 50% collagen cream or moisture hyaluronic acid memory cream to lock in moisture.

Morning steps versus evening routines

Daytime routines focus on hydration and sun protection, while evening routines focus on cleansing and richer formulas. In the morning, use a lightweight layer like the aqua hyaluronic acid water drop cream and finish with our milky piggy great block stick spf 50+ pa+++.

At night, start by removing makeup with our natural 90% olive cleansing oil. Follow with your water-based cleanser and serums. The evening is also the right time for our milky piggy retinol cream with swiftlet nest extract. If you choose to use retinol during the day, always apply sun cream on top.

Where peeling pads fit in a week

Special care products do not need to be used every single day. Exfoliating items fit between your cleanser and your serums once or twice a week. On nights when you want extra cleansing, wipe our milky piggy hell-pore perfect wine sparkling peeling pad across your nose, chin, and t-zone after washing your face.

Body care fits into this same weekly pattern. You can use our milky piggy greentea salt body scrub in the shower to wash away waste and smooth rough patches, then follow with our milky piggy shea butter 100% on dry areas.

How to add one new product at a time

Switching your entire routine at once makes it hard to tell how your skin responds to individual formulas. When you pick up a new bottle, add it into your current routine by itself and use it for a few weeks before changing anything else.

Try testing a small amount of a new serum or cream on a small patch of skin first. If you want to introduce both our Marine Collagen Ample and our Gold CF-Nest B-Jo Eye Want Cream, start with one for two weeks. Once your skin is used to the first product, add the second.
