How to mix and apply rubber modeling packs

Rubber modeling packs start as a dry powder and set into a firm layer on the face. This guide covers how to mix the powder with water, how fast to apply the paste before it sets, how thick to spread it, and how to lift the rubber sheet off your skin.

How modeling packs differ from other masks

A sheet mask sits on the face as a wet cloth. A wash-off clay pack dries hard and requires warm water and rubbing to remove. A modeling pack works differently. The powder mixes with water into a smooth paste that turns into a solid rubber layer over your skin.

Adding water and stirring quickly

Pour water directly into the cup with the powder. Add a small amount of water first to create a thick paste without making it too runny. Stir the mixture rapidly with a spatula until the lumps disappear and the texture looks smooth.

You must work quickly because the paste begins to harden once wet. If you stir too slowly, the paste will clump in the cup instead of spreading flat across your face. Aim to finish mixing in under a minute so the paste remains easy to spread.

Spreading a thick layer on your skin

Use the spatula to spread the wet paste evenly over your cheeks, chin, nose, and forehead. Apply the layer thick enough that you cannot see your bare skin underneath.

Make sure the outer borders along your jaw and hairline are noticeably thick. If you spread the edges too thin, they will dry into papery flakes that are difficult to grab. Thick edges stay rubbery and allow you to lift the set pack in large pieces without tugging on your skin.

Peeling the pack off and finishing up

Leave the paste on your face while it sets into a firm rubber coat. Once the surface is no longer sticky to the touch, loosen the thick edges around your chin and jawline. Lift the rubber mask upward in one slow motion from the bottom of your face to your forehead.

Wipe away any remaining bits along your hairline with a damp cotton pad. There is no need to scrub the face with soap after peeling. Apply your regular lotion or cream directly onto the clean skin.
